The book is available! Color Me With Hugs!

Cover Color Me With Hugs by Doodleslice

Color Me With Hugs is my first book!

It took me two years to put together this whimsical collection of 44 poems paired with 44 drawings.

The words and images are playful, and evocative of childhood, but this coloring + poetry book is intended to delight adults and children alike.

The book is brimming with animals, people, picnics, unicorns, turtles, love, umbrellas, giraffes, elephants, flying saucers, rabbits, and astronauts — in fact some of the rabbits are astronauts!

It is a book of light and lyrical poems. Some evoke a sense of wonder, some tell a story, others simply indulge in the pleasures of magical nonsense.

It is my hope that grown ups and kids can both find something to cherish in these pages filled with joy and love.

The book is available now on Amazon and select locations around Atlanta.

I visited Hellions with sQuishiepuss!

I had a great time visiting with Atlanta artist Ray Geier, better known around town as sQuishiepuss. Besides being an awesome artist, Ray has started a video channel called Hellions, which is his forum for interviewing other artists, talking about the creative life, and giving straightforward talk about the business of being an artist.

Check out the show and Ray’s art, and be sure to subscribe to his channel!

Also, you may not know, Ray and I collaborated on a painting, which is for sale in Ray’s webshop – check it out!

Another Diva Toolbox article and a few questions

I had a nice chat with Janet Powers yesterday – Janet is the Diva extraordinaire behind Diva Toolbox™, a site which has been gracious enough to post a few of my scribblings – the latest being The Title That Used To Be Your Brand. Janet shared with me some of the stats on my past articles and asked if I might be interested in joining their growing family of podcasters under the umbrella of Diva Toolbox Radio (a BlogTalkRadio partnership).

I love the Diva Toolbox™ motto: “Within you lies the ability to do anything. Find it.” I think it is a great thought for everyone. The mission of Diva Toolbox™ is to “empower, educate, and entertain women”, but that is a message for men and women alike. I’m delighted that according to Janet my posts have been well received in the almost entirely female Diva community so I’m strongly considering taking her up on the podcast concept, but I feel that what I do here isn’t exclusively for one gender, nor would my content necessarily change for the audience.

Since you know I’m an advocate for listening to your community and asking for feedback on your brand my questions to my readers of this blog are: Would you like to not just read, but listen to some of my ideas too? And if so, do you think the Diva Toolbox would be a good vehicle for that conversation? Please tweet me @davidscohen or post a comment with your thoughts. Thanks!

FYI for ASW3 grads

Thanks to Alan Urech for this info – thought all of my fellow Atlanta Startup Weekend alumni might find this interesting:

The MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta is now accepting applications from start-up companies who would like to participate in their January 13, 2010 Run It By The Pros workshop.

During this MIT Enterprise Forum event four companies will be given the opportunity to present their “ten minute pitch” to a volunteer pro panel made up of representatives from the Atlanta start up community, including an investor, serial entrepreneur and lawyer.  After the presentation and panel feedback, the audience will be given the opportunity to ask questions about the pitch and company.

There is no cost for the selected presenters to participate in this event.  The workshop will be held from 3:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the law offices of Sutherland, located at 999 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia, 30309.  The judging criteria and an application are attached.

The deadline to submit your application and Executive Summary for consideration is Friday, December 4, 2009 at 12 noon.  Both documents are required to complete your application and should be sent to virginia@mitforum-atlanta.org. [not me   🙂  I put a copy of the application form and guidelines here: http://drop.io/davidscohen ]

Please forward this announcement to anyone who you feel has an interest in application.  I’ve attended a few of these and if you get accepted be ready to be put under the microscope, but it can really sharpen up your investor presentation.
