Daddy was a Mummy Daddy was a mummy Wrapped in linens, head to toe Junior thought it funny How he groaned and walked so slow All the other kids’ pops Would play softball and drink beer But they would call the cops When the mummy shuffled near “A monster!” They would shout With venom in their voices Because he walked about In his grave clothing choices Three thousand years or more He has rocked this sense of style Never thinking they’d abhor Royal fashions of the Nile Now I ask a query Who are the monsters truly? Mummies, dressed so scary Or men who shout unruly? ___ 2021-10-13 By Doodleslice #poem #poetry #poetrycommunity #monster #mummy #doodleslice #halloweenpoems
