Once upon a time there was a six foot tall stump from a 146 year old tree that stood in a park in my hometown. My father was absolutely fascinated with it and painted it several times from different angles. The county recently removed the remnants of the tree but we decided that it was a good place to plant a new tree. So now there is a young new red maple in Anderson Park along with a portion of my dad’s ashes. Our hope is that it will bring joy and shade and fascination for generations to come.
