Pressing flowers
Devoted mind
Rigorous and blank
A petal wrung
A wisp of dew
And lovers’ true
Words
Collected by the barrel
Sipped from a flute
Residue of dreams
Intoxicate the brute
Words to rhyme the frost
Get lost
Or drunk
But hang on
To every fermented foot
Of vinegar or verse
Until you’ve drunk your fill
Then step aside
And let them spill.
