I flew above a picnic
I spied it from the air
And ‘though I hate to nitpick
It was a strange affair .
A couple on a blanket
A bunny nibbling grass
A scene of such contentment
So seldom comes to pass
.
Now I am a mosquito
It is my job to bite
But when I saw this duo
It gave me no delight .
Golden hair and laughter too
It put me off the hunt
This loving pair just won’t do
Sorry to be so blunt
.
So I buzzed away in great haste
And I left the pair unbitten
For I dislike that treacle taste
Of a pair so clearly smitten
