Big Friendship .
A rhino said to a kitty
“You are so small and thin
Could you hum a little ditty
And scratch my itchy shin?”
.
The kitty said “Mister Rhino,
You really are the most
You’re the only fellow I know
Who’d be my scratching post”
.
“Kitty, are you hiding?
You are hard for me to see”
“Rhino, I was napping
Just behind your giant knee”
.
“Oh Kitty do be careful
My misstep could be your end
The result would be dreadful:
The flattening of my friend”
.
“Rhino don’t you worry
I’m cunning and I’m quick
Even if you’d hurry
You’d never land a kick”
.
“But Kitty I’m so frightened
When I cannot see your fur
My senses are not heightened
I’d feel better if you’d purr”
.
“Sweet Rhino don’t be sad now
Your fretting warms my heart
I’ll scratch you on your chin now
So you know we’ll never part”
.
A rhino and a kitty
Unlikeliest of friends
In country or in city
Their friendship never ends
.

Hatchling hatching on the plain
Tiny dino come again
Tiny neck is very long
Lizardbird sings funny song
.
Meet your mother near the bluff
Your skin is smooth and hers is tough
Tough enough to keep you safe
Oh my dear defenseless waif
.
Life in the shell was dark, but simple
And you no bigger than a pimple
Hatchling you’ve grown so fast and fair
But danger lurks so have a care!
.
The sky is big and blue today
But storms will come another day
When thunder hammers in the gale
Remember love: you will not fail!
.
Oh hatchling you’re now ten feet tall
And mother now seems frail and small
Her mission was to build your legs
But soon you’ll tend yourself some eggs
.
New twin hatchlings on the plain
Tiny dinos come again
Father’s neck and mother’s eyes
Raise her strong and raise him wise
.
And though today they’re small and meek
They’ll double size in just a week
And all too soon they’ll say goodbye
To thunder ‘neath the big blue sky
.
