Julie left work 2 hours ago. She is still not quite home. Her work is 2.7 miles from here. #snowjam

Woke up at 3am last night with a brutal headache. Felt like my left eye was two sizes too large. It finally subsided enough by 4 that I could get back to sleep, but feeling very sluggish today. I hope I’m recharged before improv class tonight.

Ode To A Space Heater
2014-01-24 by Doodleslice

Warm red-orange
Thine sultry glow
Hot breath doth thaw
Mine coldest toe

I love Thou’s style
Thine happy hum
‘specially when
Mine feet are numb

Rosy, cheery
Thou seemeth nice
Yet thou glutton
I’ve paid Thou’s price…

Late came the hour
Huge came the bill
Oh! Dragon’s mouth!
Behind chromed grill

Greedy demon
Cruel is thine joke
Thou kept me warm
’til I was broke.

Wise words from the fabulous Jeanne Bessette: “Every piece of art is always on it’s way to being great…you can’t get to great from the gate…you have to paint to be a better painter, you have to write to be a better writer, you have to dance until your toes bleed until you become a great dancer….sing off key until your voice becomes strong. Stop trying to make great art and just make art, work at it, learn from others, and go about the business of practicing every single day…then one day you will make great art and everyone else will think it comes easy to you….but you will know better. The end.”

There is a lot of advice out there about ratcheting up the visuals to make a more effective powerpoint, but all the slick graphics in the world won’t hold their attention if you don’t have a point to your presentation. Find the heart of the narrative if you want to make an impact.
