Sheriff Bunny the Open Hearted
Was patrolling one fateful day
When he noticed eggs left unguarded
Fragile vessels, three nestless lay
.
These stranger stones he had never seen
Nor had any who came to look
A crowd was gathering on the green
For eggs unknown in any book
.
Throngs of bunnies hopped and milled about
Mrs. Cat brought all her kitties
Mildred stood on the elephant’s snout
To glimpse over the committees
.
Curiosity gripped the garden
The Sheriff held the crowd at bay
He had become the knight and warden
Of the trio, the nestless lay
.
Some thought they were a form of reptile
Others wagered they were strange birds
“A dinosaur” shouted one stepchild
The eggs just sat and shared no words
.
Suddenly a crack on shell appeared
The crowd fell from clamor to hush
Would potential met be sweet or feared?
Who knows? Those eggs were in no rush.
