The thing about fdm printing is that there is often some adjustment needed to account for how the filament flows from the nozzle, which can alter the tolerance between parts. The smaller the part and the more snug the fit needed, the more that tolerance needs to be fiddled with. So if you want to seat a 2.4mm axle, say, I have learned that it will save time and aggravation to print a test gauge to see which size hole fits best. Also, it makes a difference if the hole is oriented vertically or horizontally when printing. In this case, each hole ranges in size from 2.3mm to 2.95mm. In the end, the 2.65mm diameter hole fit best. Other factors that can effect results are extrusion temperature, bed temperature, type of filament, print speed, and layer height. In other words, it can take a lot of trial and error if you want parts to work as planned. And now you know. #3dprinting #fdm #fdmprinting #pla #ender3 #tinkering #process #lessonslearned #creality #tinkercad
