George Inness was one of the first artists, besides biggies like Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Picasso, that I knew of by name, mostly because he lived in the town I grew up in. My high school has a building named after him, and our local art museum has a wonderful collection. When I was old enough to appreciate his work I was struck by how unflinchingly bold his color harmonies were for his time and the Omniscient light that always seemed to be an observer from the other side of the canvas. #lineage
