In addition to human and urban loss, millions of animals and plants (many of which are found nowhere else in the world) have been destroyed in the fire. 🌿 To help put it into perspective, the Amazon wildfires ravaged 2.2 million acres of land. In Australia, 12 million acres have been burned to date. That is approximately the entire landmass of Wales, or Belgium, or most of Ireland. All burned. 🌿 Want to help? 💪You can spread the word; the more awareness there is, the more impact it can make for officials to do more. 💪You can donate, even just a small amount, to places like the NSW Rural Fire Service, The RSPCA Bushfire Appeal, and The Rescue Collective.
