As many of you know there has been a lot of turmoil this week in the Atlanta art community surrounding inappropriate behavior of a specific individual. For some, this news was known and a long time in coming to light, for others it was a sudden and distressing revelation. In this charged environment it has come to my attention that a member of our Atlanta Sketch community has been made to feel uncomfortable by the inappropriate behavior of another member. This is not acceptable. I have always tried to make the Atlanta Sketch Society a welcoming space for artists to meet, relax, share ideas, talk shop, and feel safe and supported. To be a place where creative souls could know they are not alone and that they are valued for their creativity. This group believes women and we support artists of all skill levels, backgrounds, genders, orientations, races, religions, and presentments. As the leader of this community I feel a need to process this recent information, have some hard conversations, and make some decisions regarding these matters as they relate to the situation within our own community. For these reasons I am placing the Atlanta Sketch Society on a hiatus until further notice. Love and hugs to all of you. Make art. Practice kindness. Believe women.
